Pearl's SR-1000 snare strainer is a high-end product that is designed for smooth action and easy and accurate fine-tuning of your snare tension. Other than that, it also tackles a few age-old problems.

First of all, your throw-off lever and tension adjustment knob will not loosen, no matter how hard you play. When you swith the throw-off lever into the 'on' position, it automatically locks. Only when you press the button on top of the lever will it switch off. And the same goes for the tension adjustment knob. Push down and rotate the knob to adjust the tension on your snare wires, and when you let go, it will automatically lock the tension setting.

This locking feature is not just handy, it also brings another advantage with it: The throw-off and butt-plate can be removed from your drum with the snare wires still attached. This way, your settings stay intact so you won't have to redo everything once you mount the strainer back on the drum after replacing the bottom head, for instance.
